I brought Mike's one suit home yesterday. He bought it just before he got married, and he only wore it a few times. he wasn't a suit guy. He wore it as a Halloween costume one year. He said he was disguised as a lawyer.
He wore it again at Janet's graduation, when it got drenched because it rained all day, and it was torrential most of the time.
James couldn't bring himself to give it away, so I brought it home. I thought about the homeless man who told me his mother had just died and asked me if I knew whether there was a place he could borrow some appropriate clothes and shoes for her funeral.
So, this afternoon, I brought the suit to Zacchaeus House, a ministry that helps homeless people. Someone will need it for a funeral or a job interview, and Mike's life will touch someone in need once again. It felt like the right thing to do.
