Miracles at the burn center

Danny's home tonight after being seriously burned at work and sent to a burn center. I can't believe the treatment he got at the Burn Clinic at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Ga. It's amazing. The burns this time are as bad as the burns five years ago, but the pain is managed and he's on the road to recovery. It's amazing.

They took him into surgery yesterday morning and debrided the burns and grafted skin onto them. They used pig skin and cadaver skin and he won't have to scrub the wounds himself.

I'm truly amazed at the difference. Two days after serious burns he's home and the pain is managed; five years ago he was in unspeakable pain 48 hours after his burns.

The company has been really kind -- the accident was not his fault and they know it. They paid for a nice hotel for Jennifer and they have told her to keep track of every penny she spends, every mile she drives.

Damn straight.

But I did wind up spending a lot of quality time with my ex-husband and his wife. It makes Danny a lot more uncomfortable than it makes us.

"I don't know," he said today. "It just seems strange."

I told him he needs to get over it. We're just fine.

As long as he's OK, I'm fine. It would kill me to lose him.

He's not collatoral damage to me -- he's my sweet (if misinformed, politically) boy.
