We stopped into the office this morning after having breakfast at Early Girl Eatery with Danny. Bruce told us that our publisher, Randy Hammer, gave all the vacation days people had donated back to them. The paper will pay for our time off.
Danny has been amazed at the support we have here. Actually, so have we. Between the church, work and other friends, we've hardly had to be alone, and we have been fed both bodily and spiritually. He said he's never seen anything quite like it, and neither have I.
I don't even have the words to thank people, and I'm not known for being at a loss for words.
I had lunch with Val and then Annie came over this evening.
Bruce and Christopher delivered the food and Christopher, who is a deacon at church, said people from the church would love to send more food, or if we don't need food, companionship, prayers -- whatever we need.
One of our neighbors stopped by today to see if we're OK. She saw all the cars along the street during the last week or so and assumed something was going on, so she and her husband have been praying for us.
I bought a bunch of picture frames today for photos of Mike to be displayed at the memorial service. These are two of my favorites:

They were taken at Mike's wedding and Danny, always the more serious of the two, told Mike he had better behave and take a serious picture. A moment later, Mike made a face and I snapped the second picture.
Rob and Danny put the spare room back together this afternoon. After they took out the hospital bed yesterday, we shampooed the rug, so it was all ready to go today. They rearranged the furniture, and then Danny offered to rearrange the furniture in all the other rooms, too.
My mother and Christina were flying into Savannah tonight, but they got stuck in Washington, DC, overnight. Christina talked the airline into putting them up in a hotel. I've had them refuse to do that when weather is the cause of the delay. But Mother is 83, and Christina is persuasive. Last time she flew, she talked the airline into upgrading her to first class.
James is in Savannah already and will pick them up at the airport in the morning.
I'm too busy to fall apart right now. I think that's what funerals and memorial services are for.
