(In response to a post by a young mother of twins)
Reading Jennifer F's post made me laugh. I had two boys, two years apart. I don't know how I would have gotten through being "triply blessed," as my friends Jim and Jean used to refer to their triplet boys.
"Triplets don't just activate each other in the womb," he said. "It gets worse after they're born."
My younger son was a climber. In fact, he was climbing out of his crib before he could walk. There was no keeping him in bed, so we locked cabinets that contained anything dangerous and put safety plugs in outlets around the house. With today's technology, you should be able to set up some kind of system that would wake you if one or all of them decide to leave the room.
You don't want to trap them in their beds in any way, although that does sound tempting ... No, it's dangerous.
It's also not a good idea to lock their bedroom door from the outside so they can't get out. It is a good idea to put a lock on the door to outside that they can't operate (my brother once got out of the house, stark naked, and took a walk around the neighborhood).
Although my son never went outside, he did dump shampoo into the toilet and make suds pretty frequently.
Once he was walking, things got even more silly. If I heard him up, he would scamper back into his bedroom, yelling, "I not up!"
