I got a call from Michael at 6:30 this morning asking me to take him to the emergency room. He has two nephrostomy tumes in his back to drain is kidneys and one of them was leaking.
So, we got here about 7:30 and waited an hour in the main waiting room, then another hour and a half in another waiting room. People kept coming over and apologizing for the wait, which is better than being ignored. Mike ate three bites of a blueberry scone while we waited. It made me want to run out and get a dozen more scones. James, his roommate, buys whatever Mike expresses interest in eating - waffles, cake, chocolate, whatever he can eat and keep down. God bless James.
Now we're waiting for his pain meds to take effect. His nurse, Don, is a heavy-metal fan, so he and Mike have something to talk about. So, now we wait for the urologist and the interventional radiologist to get here. Hospitals move at a sloooooow-mo pace, but at least no he has some pain meds.
We're checked out of the motel and heading back home at some point today -- at least that's the plan. That's what we ge for making plans.
