In the garden

I spent a good part of the day in the yard. I planted the dogwood tree in the front yard in a spot where the grass doesn't grow well. The dog likes to run along one path, and now the dogwood tree is in the middle of it. Maybe we'll get some grass in there now.

Everything's coming in nicely this year. The blueberry bushes are all in bloom. We lost all of them to the freeze last year, the strawberries to rabbits and the rapsberries and grapes to the drought. All of them look good this year, although I might get some netting for the strawberries. I saw a rabbit this afternoon.

I weeded and cut up some dead wood and then we went to the garden center at the Farmer's Market to get a cherry tree with the gift certificate from the gang in the newsroom. Mike now has two memorial trees in the yard.

I tried to keep busy and not worry about Jennifer. There's nothing I can do at this point except wait for the tests and the results. Robbo called tonight to remind me that most lumps aren't cancer. Maybe not, but most 30-year-olds with digestive problems don't have Stage 3 cancer either.
